Information we collect

The calculators on this site run entirely in your browser — numbers you enter into them are never sent to us or stored anywhere. We do not require an account to use any calculator.

If you submit the feedback form, we receive the message and, if you provide one, your email address, through our form provider (Formspree). We use this only to read and respond to feedback.

FWF Ledger, the companion app

This site links to FWF Ledger, the paid companion app we operate at app.financewithoutfluff.com. Those links are ordinary first-party links: following one is just visiting another site of ours, and nothing about them tracks you here. The app — which involves accounts, billing, and optional bank linking — has its own privacy policy on the app itself; this policy covers only this website. Clicking nothing app-related changes nothing about the site: every calculator remains free and account-free.

Cookies and advertising

This site currently shows no advertising. There are no ad networks on the site, no advertising cookies, and no tracking for advertising purposes — which is why you don't see a cookie consent banner here: there's nothing to consent to.

If we introduce display advertising in the future (for example, Google AdSense), we will update this policy first, and we will add a consent management tool that asks visitors in the EU, UK, and California for consent before any personalized ads load.

One narrow case in the other direction: we sometimes advertise this site elsewhere (for example, on Google or Bing). If you arrive by clicking one of those ads, the address you land on carries the ad network's click id, and this page keeps that id in your browser's sessionStorage — not a cookie; it disappears when you close the tab — solely so that if you continue on to create an app account, the app can tell the ad network "this click led to a sign-up." That report contains the click id, the fact and time of the sign-up, and — if you later subscribe — the price of the plan you chose. Nothing about you, your accounts, or your browsing. No ad network script runs on this site either way.

Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics on every page. It is cookie-free: it does not set cookies, does not fingerprint you, and does not track you across other sites. It gives us aggregate counts — which pages get visited and roughly how often — not profiles of individual visitors.

One more count, and it is ours: when a calculator on this site shows you a result, the page tells our app which calculator it was and whether the device looks like a phone or a computer, and the app adds one to that day's tally. That is the whole message — no cookie, no id, no address kept, nothing you typed into the calculator. We use it to see how many people who calculate go on to try the app.

Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site changes. The "last updated" date above will reflect the most recent revision.
